Surya Namaskara means salutations to Lord Surya(The Sun), the giver of energy to the world,for self vitalization. Surya Namaskar is a combination of few Yogasana postures.Surya Namaskar is useful in achieving concentration.It is a wonderful regular routine of exercise, prayer and worship given in the scriptures.Surya Namaskara must be performed before the sunrise. Stand facing the east at dawn and recite the mantras to pray Lord Surya and offer sandals, flowers, rice grains with water or simply offer water and perform Surya Namaskara.There are 12 mantras which are different names of Sun God. With each posture, a particular mantra is chanted. Surya Namaskar Mantras are :
1. Aum Mitraya Namah
Meaning- Who is friendly to all
2. Aum Ravayre Namah
Meaning- The shining one, the radiant one
3. Aum Suryaya Namah
Meaning- Who is the dispeller of darkness and responsible for bringing activity
4. Aum Bhanave Namah
Meaning- One who illumines, the bright one
5. Aum Khagaya Namah
Meaning- Who is all-pervading, one who moves through the sky
6. Aum Pushne Namah
Meaning- Giver of nourishment and fulfillment
7. Aum Hiranyagarbhaya Namah
Meaning- Who has golden color brilliance
8. Aum Marichaye Namah
Meaning- The giver of light with infinite number of rays
9. Aum Adityaya Namah
Meaning- The son of Aditi, the cosmic divine Mother
10. Aum Savitre Namah
Meaning- One who is responsible for life
11. Aum Arkaya Namah
Meaning- Worthy of praise and glory
12. Aum Bhaskaraya Namah
Meaning- Giver of wisdom and cosmic illumination

सूर्य नमस्कार का अर्थ है भगवान सूर्य (सूर्य) को नमस्कार, आत्मशक्ति के लिए दुनिया को ऊर्जा प्रदान करने वाला। सूर्य नमस्कार कुछ योगासनों की मुद्राओं का एक संयोजन है। सूर्य नमस्कार एकाग्रता को प्राप्त करने में उपयोगी है। यह शास्त्रों में दी गई व्यायाम, प्रार्थना और पूजा की अद्भुत नियमित दिनचर्या है। सूर्य नमस्कार सूर्योदय से पहले किया जाना चाहिए। भोर में पूर्व की ओर मुंह करके खड़े हो जाएं और भगवान सूर्य की प्रार्थना करने के लिए मंत्रों का पाठ करें और जल के साथ चंदन, फूल, चावल के दाने अर्पित करें या केवल जल चढ़ाएं और सूर्य नमस्कार करें। 12 मंत्र ऐसे हैं जो सूर्य देव के विभिन्न नाम हैं। प्रत्येक आसन के साथ एक विशेष मंत्र का जाप किया जाता है। सूर्य नमस्कार मंत्र हैं:

3. ॐ सूर्याय नमः।
4. ॐ भानवे नमः।
5. ॐ खगाय नमः।
6. ॐ पूष्णे नमः।
